Solar Wins Big 07/05/2010
President Obama has decided to award two solar power manufacturing compaines $2 Billion! That's Billion - with a B!! As Quoted in an Associated Press article released on 7/3/2010: "The government is handing out nearly $2 billion for new solar plants that President Barack Obama says will create thousands of jobs and increase the use of renewable energy sources. Obama announced the initiative in his weekly radio and online address Saturday, saying the money is part of his plan to bring new industries to the U.S. "We're going to keep competing aggressively to make sure the jobs and industries of the future are taking root right here in America," Obama said." This is good news for the economy, jobs and the future of solar power. Solar power has pros and cons - the biggest con being the cost. More investment means lower cost, so this major investment by American taxpayers may be a step in the right direction for long term efficiency improvements that could lead to affordable solar energy! The problem with Solar in my mind is that its still in its infancy so is inefficient in relation to the investment needed.
