Information on Going Green
We all want to do our part, but where do you start? Well, you could hire a green consultant or you could visit a new going green blog everyday to gather information. However, that might take a lot of time and time is valuable.
So, I recommend that you pick a few sites and visit them as they add information. Hopefully, this will be one of your choices! :) Our goal is to provide you with up-to-date going green tips and information that makes sense and is easy to implement. (Here's a secret - there's a book in the works to give you all the tips, techniques and resources you will need to go green without suffering in one place!)
One of favorite tips is to make others do all the green work! What I mean by that is let the businesses you use know you want them to be green. This has worked - in fact, most retailers are going green these days.
For example, Wal-Mart has taken huge steps in going green and they are now insisting that their supplies do so, as well. The company is undergoing a “green” overhaul – including a plan that will cut more than 20 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions, offer more “green” products, and find ways package and transport products by using reusable materials. You can read more details here.
Kohl's is also taking huge steps in assuring that they are as green and sustainable as possible. In fact , Kohl's has done such a great job at going green, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded Kohl’s Department Stores the Gregg Cooke Visionary Program Award. You can read more about the steps Kohl's has taken to be green on page two of their press release made on March 3, 2010.
When travelling, you can choose green hotels. There are hotels that have decided to use sustainble and green methods, including water reduction, green cleaning products and energy conservation. You can find a list at RezHub.
Another way to let others do the work while allowing you to make green choices, is to choose products that you use everyday that are green. For instance, my hosting company uses green energy and by choosing their hosting, I am going green without doing anything extra. (They also happen to have the best prices!)
Now you see what I meant when I said that it's easy to go green when others do the work!
